Welcome to Kyoto Prefectural Nanyo Senior High School
Kyoto Prefectural Nanyo Senior High School is located in Kizugawa City, a Cultural Science City, in the south of Kyoto Prefecture. The school celebrated its 30th Anniversary last year. Our school strives to provide students with an environment that facilitates academic excellence and high achievement in extra-curricular activities. We also work with local communities to promote active citizenship and expose students to the challenges our society currently faces.
Our school has three philosophies, these are to:
- Show independence and take initiative;
- Show respect and humanity to all;
- Develop a strong will, healthy mind and healthy body to achieve our goals
Show independence and take initiative; students are expected to show independence and take initiative to in their studies and extra-curricular activities.
Show respect and humanity to all: students should show respect and kindness towards others, in order to create a peaceful and understanding society.
Develop a strong will, healthy mind and healthy body: we encourage our students to set ambitious goals, and we believe that it is important to have these three qualities in order to achieve them.
Our students enjoy life at Nanyo. The disciplined structure, various extra-curricular and collaborative activities allow students to experience a rich learning atmosphere where they can study and create with friends.

Nanyo senior high school was designated as a 2016 associate school of Super Global High Schools (SGH) by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) on March 31th 2016.
The Super Global High School Program aims to foster globalized leaders who will be able to play active roles on the international stage through education at high schools that contribute to this mission. Students will achieve goals such as awareness and deep knowledge of social issues, communication ability and problem-solving skills.
Through the SGH project, we will work hard to enhance our educational activities. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with our school activities and look forward to your continued support in the future.
