Personality
Sometimes, when meeting a group of people for the first time, one may have to describe themselves to the group. Here are a few descriptive adjectives that one can use to describe their own personality.

1. Personality 性格 (せいかく)
The open left hand is held palm down in front of the left side of the chest. The right hand is fisted with the index finger extended and used to brush the back of the left hand twice.
2. Bright 明るい (あかるい)
Both hands are held palms out fingertips up in the center of the chest and arc up to the outside and over their matching shoulders.
3. Gentle/Kind 優しい (やさしい)
Both hands are held together in the center of the chest palms down, fingertips pointing out toward the interlocutor and with the tips of the thumbs almost touching the bases of the ring and middle fingers. They then part, each moving their respective sides, while the hands open and close as if kneading a piece of dough.
4. Strange 変わった (かわった)
The right hand is fisted with the index finger extended and placed pointing up on the cleft of the chin. The head is slightly tilted to one side and the expression is somewhat quizzical.
5. Earnest 真面目な (まじめな)
The left hand is held palm up in the center of the chest and the index finger and thumb are held as if gripping the lower part of a zipper between them. The right hand is then held over it in a similar fashion with the palm down and makes a motion as if zipping up a zipper.
6. “I have an earnest personality.”
The right hand is fisted with the index finger extended and used to point at the center of the chest (signing “I or me”). Then the open left hand is held palm down in front of the left side of the chest and the right hand is fisted with the index finger extended and used to brush the back of the left hand twice (signing “personality”). Lastly, the left hand is held palm up in the center of the chest and the index finger and thumb are held as if gripping the lower part of a zipper between them. The right hand is then held over it in a similar fashion with the palm down and makes a motion as if zipping up a zipper (signing “earnest”).
