Kamakura Period

In the Kamakura period, in manor villages, farmers began to work together with influential people in the village to develop the mountains and fields, use water, and so on. This development of villages also caused conflicts with neighboring villages, but instead strengthened the unity of the village.
People built stone pagodas and stone Buddhas to pray for safety in their lives.
Recently, excavations have uncovered a number of medieval villages, and we are beginning to see concrete details of how people lived at the time.
